I am a Resident in Counseling who enjoys working with teens and adults as they navigate the challenges, transitions, and changes that come with different stages of life. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Bridgewater College and my Master’s degree in Counselor Education from James Madison University.
I have a particular interest in working with anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, school concerns, life transitions, and motivational struggles. I also hope to continue developing my experience working with families. My approach to counseling is collaborative and individualized, drawing heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while incorporating person-centered approaches. I believe counseling should begin with meeting clients where they are, understanding what they need, and working together to find strategies that feel realistic and meaningful for them.
Before beginning my counseling residency, I spent five years working as a school counselor, and I currently serve as a school counselor in Greene County. I also spent two years as a TDT counselor working with students in alternative education, where I previously earned my QMHP-C. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with adolescents facing a variety of academic, emotional, behavioral, and personal challenges.
I strive to create a comfortable and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and able to be themselves. I see counseling as a partnership and believe that every person brings their own strengths, experiences, and perspectives into the counseling process. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, build practical coping skills, work through challenges, and feel more confident moving forward.
My clinical supervisor is Crystal Myers, LPC. She can be reached at (434) 990-1744.
